A true hero who served his country with honor and distinction for 20 years in the United States Navy. As a Corpsman, he bravely served in various Fleet Marine Force units alongside his fellow sailors and Marines, repeatedly putting his own safety on the line to provide critical medical care on the battlefield. Over the course of his service, he deployed numerous times to combat zones, where he witnessed the horrors of war firsthand. Despite these challenges, Doc Owens never wavered in his dedication to his comrades and the mission at hand. After he returned from service to his hometown, Doc Owens suffered a fatal heart attack. His selflessness and bravery will be forever remembered and honored by his fellow service members and all those who knew him.

With that, we honor his legacy through this annual ride to raise funds to selflessly help those veterans and their families in our community who did not have the honor of meeting Doc Owens.
